City attorney previews Verizon franchise renewal, sets public hearing; CCRB amendments slated for hearing

The city attorney told the council Verizon has requested renewal of its cable franchise for a five-year term and that the proposed agreement includes continued video-franchise and PEG payments (the memo references $45,000). He said a public hearing could be scheduled Oct. 14 and that Verizon representatives will attend to answer questions; the attorney said he will compare terms to the Altice/Optimum agreement and provide any recommended additions in advance of the hearing.
On a separate item, the city attorney said the council had adopted a resolution setting a public hearing on amendments to chapter 17 of the Peekskill City Code (Civilian Complaint Review Board). He said the proposed changes have been discussed with police and CCRB members and that the public hearing is expected Sept. 8.
