Seymour said selling older, larger apparatus is a common approach that allows the department to buy simpler, lower-cost rescue vehicles better matched to the city’s operational needs. He also said the city has already approved a prior resolution to declare surplus and that staff will bring the surplus-resolution back next week for formal council action.
