The Mercer County Board on May 4 approved April claims totaling $461,630.09 and an HRA disbursement of $5,625.05, both motions passed without opposition. The approvals were presented during the finance report and incorporated into the meeting's consent and finance actions.
During the same finance report, the board voted 7-2 to approve a package of pay changes for the county treasurer and county clerk that included a 12% immediate raise, the county paying 15% of their insurance premiums, and a planned 3% raise in subsequent years. Commissioners Koepke and Anderson voted no on the compensation motion; the motion carried after roll-call voting. The meeting record shows the finance presenter listed on the agenda as Steve Moreland led the report.
The board also approved payment of a $200 coroner invoice submitted by Pat Fox Forensic Autopsy that had not been included in the claims run. Finance directives were issued for all committee chairs to review 2026 budget-to-actual variances and for department heads to report any major capital purchases expected for the 2027 budget to the finance committee.
