Elk County commissioners voted Aug. 6 to award a 12‑month natural gas supply contract to UGI Energy following a routine bid process. Staff said three solicitations were requested; one vendor declined to bid, UGI bid 3.5508 per MCF for 12 months and NGL Energy bid 3.8 per MCF.
The chief clerk recommended a 12‑month renewal because of the volatile energy market. Staff noted the prior two‑year contract had a lower rate and that the new bid represents an increase; commissioners moved and approved the 12‑month UGI contract by voice vote.
Staff said the pricing was valid only until 11:00 a.m. on the bid day and urged timely action to secure the rate.
