The council approved authorizing the police chief to sign a revised contract with Spillman Technologies to move the department to the vendor''s subscription service. Chief McKimben said the department has used Spillman since 2009 and the subscription shift will reduce the city's annual cost "from a little over 15,000 a year" to "10,008," saving nearly $5,000 per year.
McKimben told the council the subscription product includes dispatch and allows interoperability with Cache County and other agencies. The council moved and approved a motion to authorize the chief to sign the subscription contract after review by the city attorney. Staff noted the contract is lengthy and will be reviewed by legal counsel before final execution.
