Staff reported Aug. 26 that Joe Thompson has issued a rebid for construction Contract #1 on the firehouse kitchen incubator; the rebid was released the same day and bids will be opened on Sept. 26 after a 4‑week advertising period. A walkthrough for prospective bidders is scheduled for Sept. 9 at 10 a.m.
"Bids will be opened on September 26," staff said, explaining the timeline and outreach to potential bidders. Board members said they would mail bid packages to firms that did not bid previously and hold an additional walkthrough on Sept. 9. If a low, qualified bid comes in that meets the budget, the board asked whether staff could forward it to the U.S. EDA for authorization to award so the schedule would not be delayed by monthly meeting timing.
Members also discussed outstanding procurement issues for equipment: while most kitchen equipment contract packages "look fine," the freezer and cooler bid has technical problems and long lead times; staff said they were notifying vendors and had time to resolve the issue before installation.
Next steps: staff will continue outreach to bidders, hold the Sept. 9 walkthrough, open bids on Sept. 26, and — if bids meet budget and qualifications — move authorization paperwork to EDA as appropriate.
