Council honors Eagle Scout candidate Embry Richardson for Kiwanis Park project

The Polk City Council recognized Eagle Scout candidate Embry Richardson for a volunteer project to revitalize an underused area at Kiwanis Park.
A city presenter said the idea to replace a vandalized tetherball installation with a Gaga ball pit grew from the parks commission’s 2023 review of low-cost improvements. The presenter said Richardson and volunteers met in May and "had 17 different volunteers assist with this project, accumulating over 80, 80, cumulative volunteer hours." Richardson told the council she organized volunteers through an online sign-up and fundraising for supplies: "I set up a sign up genius, and I put, like, all the details."
The mayor presented Richardson with a certificate of appreciation. Council members praised her leadership and encouraged continued community involvement.
