Board hears $39.5 million GMP amendment for Northwest Elementary; total GMP approaches $49 million

Construction staff reported on bid openings and sought board approval of a guarantee price amendment for the Northwest Elementary School balance‑of‑construction.
"Tonight, we are requesting the approval of the a $1.33 $20.19 Guarantee Price Amendment for the balance of construction for the Northwest Elementary School project in the amount of $39,513,891," Brian Cohen told the board, noting the amendment added to a previous amendment would bring the total guaranteed maximum price to $48,959,901.
Cohen said the project had 32 bid packages and 129 bids overall and that in at least one case an apparent low bidder withdrew after post‑bid review, which led the district to recommend the next apparent low bidder. Board members asked that the post‑bid decisions and rebid activity be better documented; the board voted to move this item from consent to the action agenda for next week so members could review the documentation prior to a formal vote.
