Greenway announces staffing hires and reports clear state audit; NHA federal funding remains under review

Executive Director Andy Kitzmann used his report to introduce Kristin Ackerman as the Greenway's new Finance Manager and noted Emily Lavin will start later in October as Communications and Outreach Manager. He also said a Nominations Committee including both Chairs, Jane Daniels, Bob Elliott and Senator Michelle Hinchey will convene to address Board vacancies.
Kitzmann updated the Board on oversight and funding matters, noting the NYS Comptroller's audit of the Greenway's internal controls concluded with a clear audit result. He also provided a federal funding update for the National Heritage Area program, stating the program had been included in language in the Senate's 2026 budget discussions and that the Board will receive further updates as details develop.
