Neighbors voice concerns — parking, traffic and an alleged "soup kitchen" — during hearing on Lexington Park church plan

During public testimony on the House of Disciples concept site plan, multiple neighbors spoke both in favor of and against the proposal. Concerns included vehicle speeds and two past fatal collisions near the Willows Road corner, potential overflow parking on neighborhood streets, overnight security and a reported comment that the pastor had said the new church "is gonna have a soup kitchen." The planning commission accepted those public comments into the record before deliberating.
Pastor Henry Briscoe directly rebutted the soup-kitchen assertion, saying on the record, "I said 1st that we are not planning to put a soup kitchen on the property." Other speakers urged the commission to approve the project as a good fit for Lexington Park; one longtime resident recommended the applicant consider connecting to MetCom sewer rather than relying on an on-site septic system.
