Council considered several budget contribution motions for the 2027 budget, including a $5,000 contribution to the New Ulm Business Retail Association and a set of allocations that together totaled $55,750. A councilor read the list of recommended allocations out loud: "Brown County Historical Society, dollars 22,500. Heart of New Ulm, $10,000. Wanda Gog House Association, $1,375... Concord Singers, $6,350..." The council discussed the royalty program request and whether the allocation matched the groups' requests; the New Ulm Fire Department Relief Association secretary, Joe Satt, said the association would be fine with the $2,200 amount for royalty apparel.
Council then approved a motion to make contributions to specified organizations as part of the annual budget and voted to eliminate the separate contribution-request letter process, directing that remaining contribution decisions be handled through the regular budget process and phasing out other contributions over two years with final payments in 2028 or sooner.
