Tyrone Griffin asked the council for permission to use Grays Mill Park for a 'Taste of Hiram' event on March 20, 2027, saying he plans DJ music, food trucks, vendors and a possible car show. "I want to do a taste of Hiram again, next year, 03/20/2027," Griffin said, and asked the council to allow use of city land for the private event while he handles vendors and promotion.
Council members and staff discussed that current terms of use for Grays Mill require events be run by nonprofits. A staff member noted, "the terms of use require it be a nonprofit," and council members recommended either individually approving Griffin’s request now and later developing a formal process to handle for-profit requests, or considering a separate process. The council moved and approved authorization for Griffin to use the park; staff said outstanding details will be resolved through the special-event permit process.
