Commissioners appoint two to Fair Board; public praises fairgrounds manure-pit project

The Wahkiakum County Board accepted the resignations of Kay Walters and Erinn Reimann and appointed Tom Merz to the Fair Board to fill an unexpired term through Dec. 31, 2026, and Marikha DeLaCruz to fill an unexpired term through Dec. 31, 2027. The appointments were approved M/S/A by Commissioners Letham and Tischer, with the vote recorded as unanimous.
During public comment Fair Board President Erin Hill and Fairgrounds Manager Crystal Baker described a manure‑pit project at the fairgrounds that used large cinder blocks for longevity, thanked Public Works staff for assistance and acknowledged fundraising efforts by Fair Board member Audrey Herman. Other public commenters updated the board on library events and Bald Eagle Days activities.
