Planning board signals support for Team Performance Center at G. Harold Anderson Elementary

The Point Pleasant Beach Planning Board heard a presentation for a proposed Team Performance Center to be sited adjacent to G. Harold Anderson Elementary School’s football field. Tyler Gordon, a licensed architect representing Speasel Architectural Group, introduced the roughly 6,000-square-foot, two-story building and the project team.

Drew (site presenter) said the freestanding building sits at the south end of the existing field, will use the existing paved area for construction staging and requires roughly 0.5 acre of disturbance. "It's about a 6,000 square foot building, 2 story," the presenter said. The team told the board they have NJDEP flood-hazard approval and soil-conservation-district sign-off, and that water and sewer will tie into Yale Avenue mains while gas and electric will be served from the existing school.

Board members asked about a basement and whether the project is in the flood zone; presenters confirmed the site is within the flood hazard area and that the design satisfies local flood-damage prevention requirements. Project leaders said they anticipate use by "all sports of '27," indicating an ambitious target to have athletics using the facility in the 2027 school year. The board member leading discussion said no formal vote was required and that comments indicated favorability toward the project.
