Town board renews MVP health plan, raises town-paid deductible

The Town of Hunter board voted to renew the municipality’s MVP health insurance plan and to increase the portion of the deductible the town sponsors by $250 for single coverage and $500 for family coverage.
"I move to renew with MVP with the current plan, increase the sponsored deductible by $250.00 for single and $500.00 for family coverage by the town," Supervisor Sean Mahoney said when he made the motion, which was seconded by Councilman Dolph Semenza and recorded as passing 3-0, with Councilmen Raymond Legg and David Kukle absent.
Budget Officer Lara Hamrah-Poladian said the change will affect the town’s share by specific dollar amounts but that deductible budgeting is usage-driven. "The deductible is based on usage so she will not be increasing the budget," she said, noting the immediate budget impact calculations presented to the board.
The board recorded the estimated town impact in staff notes and approved the motion to implement the change effective for the upcoming plan period.
