The Huron Town Board on Nov. 7 adopted its final 2025 budget and approved a 3% salary increase for Planning Board members while keeping the town tax rate effectively flat. Supervisor Dave Fantuzzo said the recalculated figures produced “a slight decrease in the tax rate; last year it was 5.637 and this year it is 5.635. We are not raising taxes; we have left it flat.”
The board discussed line-item adjustments after Town Clerk Tammy Vezzose and the supervisor reworked revenue projections and departmental requests. Councilmember Tiffany Smith proposed the 3% Planning Board increase, and the board agreed funds could be moved from contractual lines to cover the cost. The board also revisited the Zoning Board and personnel lines to better align compensation with duties; Fantuzzo said some positions were reduced while others were increased after review.
Resolution #121 (to approve a 3% increase to Planning Board salaries) was adopted on a motion from Councilmember Phil Eygnor, seconded by Councilmember Tom Wetherby (AYES 5, NAYS 0). Resolution #122 (to adopt the Final Budget, attached to the minutes) passed on a Wetherby motion, seconded by Eygnor (AYES 5, NAYS 0). The board scheduled a follow-up meeting on Nov. 19, 2024.
