Resident urges action as town attorney says dangerous-dog complaints can be filed

At the Aug. 20 Huron Town Board meeting resident Robin Delf described ongoing problems with a neighbor’s dogs and asked whether the Animal Control Law posted on the town website is enforceable. Attorney Amy Kendall confirmed that the law can be acted on: “Yes, it is.” Kendall said the Dog Control Officer (DCO) may take a complaint and file a dangerous dog complaint with the court.
Board members asked Delf to provide copies of any police statements and to submit a written account to the town so they could send a letter to the homeowner; councilmember Bob Cahoon also encouraged Delf to reach out to a board member if the issue does not progress. The meeting minutes record that Attorney Kendall described repeated incidents as meeting the threshold for a “Dangerous Dog” filing. No formal enforcement action was recorded at the meeting; the board discussed next steps and documentation.
