District pursues grant for track, paving and sidewalks with tight two-week window

Property and transportation committee members said they are still awaiting responses to an assessment of the district track and field. Board members discussed a recently released grant opportunity staff said could fund a large portion of a facilities project. "They could cover up to 75% of a facilities related project," one administrator said, and staff reported the grant was released July 27 with a submission window that closes quickly (discussed in-meeting as Friday the 7th). Staff said the grant requires a detailed cost estimate and that some projects must exceed $500,000 to qualify; they also shared an immediate estimate of about $125,000 for top coating and ceiling work across three buildings and said entering the grant process would be a placeholder until the board approves any commitment.
Administration said it would continue calling local contractors to obtain the cost estimates needed for the application and noted the district can withdraw before final board approval if the trustees later decide not to proceed.
