The board reviewed options for assessing the remaining life of the county landfill and a vendor quote to perform a topographic/capacity survey. Staff said the survey would stake elevations and estimate how much additional cell capacity the county can legally and practically use; a quoted cost for the survey work was $3,300.
Supervisors asked staff to bring TRC (technical consultant) back for a follow-up work session after the survey is complete so the board can evaluate whether additional cells, cap removal or phased operations will extend landfill life. A supervisor suggested creating a landfill construction committee to explore options and cost-saving approaches; staff will return with the survey results and a schedule for a TRC briefing.
