Councilors report facility committee plans, skate park repairs and conservation updates

At the close of the meeting, councilors provided committee and facility updates. Councilor Gail Levesque said she, Councilor John Bator and Chairman Phil Greazzo would establish a facilities committee and that they had requested subject-matter experts from Fire, Police and DPW to join; the committee is expected to meet twice a month through the summer.
Councilor Becky Soule reported the skate park was closed briefly for minor repairs after a third-party inspection and said she was glad the work was completed to keep the park safe. Chairman Greazzo suggested using recreation impact fees to repave and improve the skate park; Town Manager Rick Sawyer clarified that impact fees cannot be used for maintenance of existing facilities, only for expanding capacity or building new ones. Councilor Laura Fahey noted upcoming trail improvements at Joppa Hill starting the week of Aug. 17.
