The SIB special-projects report presented to the board on Jan. 8 detailed several community tourism and outreach efforts: a walking/driving-tour brochure for the town’s three hamlets, a wall exhibit featuring maps and photos, development of a history committee and student involvement, and coordination on bike trails and bike-promotion activities.
The report also proposed a process for use of the town van: an individual or organization would submit a request to the town clerk with date, time, locations and passenger counts; the town clerk would verify van availability and a sign-off by an appropriate town office would be required. The report asked whether gasoline should be provided by the town or the requesting party and recommended creating a volunteer database for event staffing.
Committee members sought continued collaboration with town staff on trail planning and volunteer coordination. The board did not adopt new policy at the Jan. 8 meeting; the SIB report asked for ongoing feedback and regular meetings with the SIB and town committees.
