District leaders praise teachers, name new hires and student projects

The Smith Green Community Schools board heard a round of celebrations on Aug. 18, with a staff member noting an upcoming student art display and thanking staff for new-teacher orientation and training. "Her hard work has been very impressive and very much appreciated," the staff member said while calling out Miss Thomas and Miss Sullivan for their roles in preparing teachers for the year.
The board was also told of personnel changes: "Doctor Nikki Baker" was introduced as the new English teacher, and the board was informed that Mr. Drew Buffmarter will serve as head baseball coach and Mr. Tyler Hoffman as junior-high cross-country coach, each identified as replacing Mr. Turner. Administrators also highlighted expanded STEM lab visits, student-council proposals including new parking spots and early athletics successes.
