Richland reports early-morning water-line break; April pumping up slightly year-over-year

Town water operator Robert (Bob) Hicks told the board a break in a water line on County Route 28 triggered an alarm around 1:00 a.m. and crews repaired the break by 6:30 a.m.; Hicks also reported two new service taps completed in the last two days. The immediate repair averted extended service interruption, the operator said.
Hicks' written water report for April 2026 shows total water pumped of 10,586,200 gallons, up 440,000 gallons from April of the previous year; year-to-date pumping is reported at 37,976,100 gallons. The board received the report as part of the meeting record and noted the early-morning service response.
