Piedmont holiday drives: Feed the Children fundraiser exceeds goal; Toys for Tots drive under way and dedicated to a longtime resident

At the start of the Dec. 1 meeting, a Piedmont resident, Dr. Steve Sydney, updated the council on a recent fundraising run for Feed the Children. He said his fundraiser raised more than $11,000—exceeding a stated $10,000 goal—and thanked volunteers, the recreation department and donors.
Fire Chief Dave Brannigan announced the annual Toys for Tots drive, asking residents to drop off new, unwrapped toys at donation bins at City Hall, the recreation department and other city locations. Brannigan said donations collected before Dec. 10 will be distributed through the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, while donations received on or after Dec. 11 will go to a Fruitvale neighborhood giveaway; collections continue through Dec. 23. The chief and the mayor dedicated this year’s drive in memory of long‑time Piedmont resident Carol Davis.
