Lisa Gardner reported to the Recreation Commission that the second annual Piedmont Adult Recreation Expo, held at the Veterans Building, was "a big success," estimating between 150 and 200 attendees and roughly 25 participating groups. She highlighted increased registrations for ongoing programs such as the reading group and movie group and thanked sponsors and city staff who helped promote the event.
Gardner credited underwriters and community partners — including the Piedmont Adult School, the Piedmont Center for the Arts and local real-estate and construction sponsors — for helping make the expo possible. Commissioners asked whether there was an uptick in new presenters; Gardner said participation was comparable to last year but included some new presenters and increased sign-ups for specific programs.
