Staff updated the commission on a camera deployment that was part of the Bay Area Deer Abundance Project; cameras were placed in four parks (Piedmont Park, Hampton, Driscena and Blair), and staff shared photographs showing deer, turkeys and raccoons. The project manager has not yet completed an analytical summary, and staff said they will circulate results when they are available.
Commissioners noted anecdotal reports of numerous deer in town and suggested supplementing camera data with community‑reported observations (for example, coordinating with walking groups) to broaden the dataset beyond fixed cameras.
