Piedmont introduces new climate action fellow, Emma Grossman

City staff introduced Emma Grossman as Piedmont’s new climate action fellow at the Nov. 3 council meeting. Planning and Building Director Kevin Jackson noted Piedmont has participated in the Sustainability Service Corps fellowship program for about 10 years and called the fellowship “critical in furthering our climate action goals.”
Sustainability Program Manager Denise Ergun said the program was highly competitive this year and summarized Grossman’s background — a recent graduate of NYU with degrees in environmental studies and public health and experience working on food‑waste reclamation and water‑resources research. Grossman told council she has already been working on the city’s electrification rebate and cooktop programs. "I am your new climate action fellow," she said, adding she had moved to the area to be within walking distance of work and was excited to support the city’s sustainability efforts.
