Councilmember Tiffany Smith told the board she had drafted a letter of support to prioritize East Bay for a Great Lakes Protection Fund grant that would fund design, adaptive management and five years of monitoring. Smith said the town scheduled a conference call for Nov. 4 to advance the application and identified East Bay as a priority study site.
Smith also provided background on aquatic weed harvesting: the Aquatic Weed District resulted from a petition filed like a water district and services must be contracted; the town expects a year‑end report. Councilmember Phil Eygnor separately reported that Water District #9 construction is nearly finished and "has gone well." Russell Teeple told the board weeds were not severe this season.
