Board approves expanded director role for Exceptional Student Services

The Governing Board of the Coconino County Accommodation School District on Feb. 3 approved a revised job description for the Director of Exceptional Student Services that the district said better reflects an expanded scope of duties currently performed by John Phelps.
Chief Education Officer Dave Dirksen reviewed the changes and said the revision documents responsibilities Mr. Phelps has taken on during recent years. John Phelps thanked Mr. Dirksen for revising the job description and noted the district's growth over his ten years of service. The action was recorded as approved by Board President Cheryl Mango-Paget; the transcript does not record a mover, seconder, or a roll-call vote tally.
The change will be reflected in personnel records and was discussed alongside other staffing topics the board plans to address in future meetings. The board noted the district will place contract renewals on the March agenda and bring forward a revised mission statement for the online school at a future meeting.
