Healy Park playground will close Aug. 10 for equipment replacement; city expects reopening in October

City Manager Melba Hilson updated the council on Healy Park playground improvements: the city ordered new equipment and expects delivery around Sept. 1. To prepare for installation the playground portion of Healy Park will close on Aug. 10 to allow public works to demolish the old equipment and prepare the pad.
Hilson said, if everything goes according to schedule, the playground is expected to be back open "around October 2." She emphasized the closure is to allow safe, on-schedule installation and asked staff and residents to expect the temporary shutdown while work proceeds.
The council acknowledged the schedule and moved on to other agenda items; the city manager said the closure and reopening dates depend on delivery and installation progress.
