Design team, VTrans and city staff outline steps as Exit 14 bridge moves to construction

Alana Blanchard, the city’s community development director, described her role managing the design phase and moving the project from vision to construction, noting the bridge was included in the city’s TIF plan adopted in 2012 and that easements, design and the bid process required years of work. She said the community and design professionals aimed for a project that would be used and loved by people.
Aaron Gayette, project manager with VHB, told the crowd the design team included structural, highway and bike‑ped engineers, landscape architects and an architect and artist, characterizing the process as unique for a bridge project. City officials thanked VTrans staff for help navigating federal and state steps for building within the interstate ramp area.
