Council confirms multiple advisory committee appointments after interviews

The Essex Junction City Council completed a series of interviews and then, following executive session, confirmed a slate of appointments to advisory committees. During public comment and the interview portion, candidates described their qualifications and priorities; after the council recessed to executive session the body returned and recorded motions to appoint candidates across committees.
Councilor Raj (reading motions) listed nominees to multiple committees and committees then approved the appointments by unanimous voice vote. The motion included appointments to the Bike Walk Advisory Committee (Robert Frederick; John O’Brien; Ian Van Kirk; Jessica Huntley), the Capital Program Review Committee (Kevin Collins; Mike Plagman; Justin Rebedu), a one-year moderator appointment (Steve Eustace), Planning Commission appointment (Kirsty Pascall), Recreation Advisory appointments (Bridget Meyer; Patrick Lynch; Rachel Vaughn; Drew Perry) and Tree Advisory appointments (Amanda Borach; Luca Karki; Nick Meyer). One councilor moved to appoint; another seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously to confirm the candidates.
Councilors asked staff to update rosters and notify appointees; the city clerk will post the updated committee lists and terms.
