Two candidates interviewed for planning and related committee seats at the May 27 council meeting emphasized experience with the comprehensive‑plan process and cross‑disciplinary skills. Kirsty said she has been in the Junction nine years and arrived partway through the transit‑oriented development master plan; she described participating in recent focus groups and helping translate public feedback into land‑use code amendments. “I think just being able to be with the comprehensive plan process… and taking all that feedback we’ve been soliciting and turn it into our guiding principles,” Kirsty said.
Amanda Svenson, who identified herself as a transportation engineer and UVM graduate, said she wants to use engineering experience from neighboring municipal projects to support active‑transportation work and broader planning needs, including wastewater and facilities. Both candidates responded affirmatively when asked whether they would consider other committees if not appointed; the council will make final appointments at the June 10 meeting.
