Baker County health administrator highlights service expansion, new OB clinic and community resource hub

Jordan Duncan, administrator of the Baker County Health Department, told the commission she completed her first year leading the department and outlined new and expanded services the agency has provided.
Duncan said the department opened a "community resource hub" in July 2025 to centralize contact information and pamphlets from partner organizations and give community groups a meeting space. She cited Healthy Start performance: "321 intakes," about 120 enrollments in home-visitation services and more than 4,000 home visits provided to enrolled mothers and infants. "We provided over 18,000 dental services this year," she added, noting more than 12,000 were preventive and over 5,000 were restorative.
Duncan described other additions: a diaper-depot trailer distributing diapers and wipes at no cost, a newly hired registered dietitian (Kelly Cook) providing one-on-one nutrition counseling, and environmental-health and epidemiology work to investigate disease trends. She said the department arranged a new weekly OB clinic through an agreement with Ascension Saint Vincent's Family Medicine and said WIC services will transfer from Nassau County to Baker County on Oct. 1 so the county can integrate WIC into local services.
Commissioners praised staff and asked about outreach; Duncan said advertising has been primarily through the school district and press but that the department will soon be allowed a dedicated Facebook page to improve community outreach.
