EDC staff presented a map of EDC-owned parcels and recommended pursuing a parking-lot project on the Maple Street parcel. The board approved pursuing the project contingent on rezoning and city-council approval.
Jewel, presenting a hand-drawn map and site analysis, told the board the Maple Street parcel measures about 0.318 acres and "you could put up to 40 to 45 spaces there of parking if it was paved and done properly." Board members discussed rezoning requirements (the parcel is currently p-3), possible partnerships with the city or private lease arrangements, and noted about $80,000 is budgeted for property improvements next year.
A motion that the EDC approve a project for parking at 10th and Maple after rezoning and city-council approval was moved and seconded; the motion passed. Staff was directed to continue planning and return with cost estimates and rezoning steps.
