Commission tables conditional-use inventory review after commissioners request clearer tables and standards

The Kamas City Planning Commission on Aug. 4 continued work on a conditional-use inventory and asked staff to return with a clearer, printed packet and proposed objective standards before taking action.
Planner Jill explained the city attorney had prepared a table of conditional uses in the code and recommended whether each should remain conditional, be removed, or be converted to a permitted use with objective standards. The staff recommendation was that the commission review the inventory, provide feedback and then table the item while staff and the attorney draft code amendments and standards.
Commissioners asked for a clearer cross-reference column showing where a use would still be permitted if removed from the conditional-use table (for example, showing in which commercial zones an animal hospital is permitted). Several commissioners said they needed printed, color-coded copies and time to annotate the materials: "That would be a great addition to this table," one commissioner said, asking staff to include a column that shows where a use would be allowed.
Commissioners also found a typographical error listing "M1 public facilities" and asked staff to clean up the table. A motion to table the conditional-use inventory until the next meeting carried; staff will return with a corrected table and proposed standards to apply to converted permitted uses.
