John Crestonielle, speaking for the applicant, noted the organization had taken a loss on recent events and outlined the funding need. “The National Day of America cowboy, we actually were in a hole about $1,500,” he said, explaining recent fundraising shortfalls. Staff updated the board that only about $1,200 remained in the current year's promotional budget and that any request over $10,000 would require city-council action.
Board members discussed possible cost reductions, timing and whether to fund one performance instead of two to control costs. They agreed to change the application process for promotional funding, asked applicants to resubmit under the updated rules and tabled both performance agreement applications until the new process is in place.
