The Bandera Economic Development Corporation voted to set aside $28,135 to support the Frontier Times Museum's planned building expansion.
The board was told that $20,135 of the $28,135 would go specifically toward power infrastructure for the museum's add-on building and would be provided when the museum actually goes to construction. The Chair explained the EDC had previously funded architectural design and that the museum still needs roughly $250,000 in matching funds before construction can start. “If we support them, it would be a support letter that we would give them the $20,135 when they're actually ready to construct,” the Chair said.
Board members asked which budget line the funds would come from; staff identified the miscellaneous projects line, which has available funds. A motion to set the $28,135 aside under miscellaneous projects was moved, seconded and passed. Board members noted the award functions as a contingent pledge to be released at construction start rather than an immediate check.
The board did not record additional conditions beyond standard reporting and the requirement that funds be requested when construction begins.
