Councilor Nick Baranowski updated the board on Canandaigua Lake watershed matters, reporting that a first-stage appraisal was approved for a roughly 160-acre parcel on Duell Road that has washed out twice in the past year and carried mud and debris into Canandaigua Lake. Baranowski said the town is exploring purchase of the parcel to enable construction of berms to control future flood debris.
Baranowski also said recent water-quality testing returned "below detectable levels," which he described as a favorable report. He noted a Draft Docking and Mooring Law is under consideration and that CEO Chris Whipple will be involved in that work. Baranowski reported he had spoken with county officials about grant funds that may help address culvert problems on Lower Road. No acquisition decision or funding commitment was made at the meeting; the update was informational and the Board directed follow-up with county grant resources and the Planning Board/ZBA as appropriate.
