Council honors 9-1-1 telecommunicators, Donate Life month and CERT graduates

The Placentia City Council used part of its April 15 meeting for community recognitions. The council presented a proclamation designating April 13–19, 2025 as 9-1-1 Public Safety Telecommunications Week and invited dispatch team members to the dais; communications lead Shale Rodriguez thanked the council for support and said the team has done "a lot of great life saving work these past couple of years."
The council also proclaimed April 2025 as Donate Life month and invited Renee Sorrentino, an ambassador for Donate Life and a transplant survivor, to speak. Sorrentino recounted her liver transplant and the decision of a donor family that she said saved multiple lives: "He saved my life, he saved 6 other people's lives, he gave 2 people vision with his corneas..." The city additionally recognized spring 2025 CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) graduates; Patrick Powers, emergency and health manager, thanked volunteers and said the city aims to run two CERT courses per year.
The recognitions were ceremonial; no council action was required.
