Trustees voted to set a public hearing for Monday, Oct. 20, 2025 at 7 p.m. (Village Hall and/or Senior Center) to consider establishing a capital improvement program for the Village water plant. The board’s resolution proposes funding the program by adding a flat $50 charge to all water bills issued to village and town of Highlands customers who receive village water, independent of usage.
The mayor said the hearing will allow residents and businesses who benefit from village water service to be heard and that written comments will be accepted prior to the hearing. The board said it will make efforts to ensure accessibility and asked interested parties to contact the village clerk for reasonable accommodations.
