Residents press board on damaged roads; highway superintendent outlines temporary fixes

Several residents used the Privilege of the Floor on March 11 to press the Town Board for faster road repairs citing safety and vehicle damage on Parrish Hill Road, Keysor Road and Wolven Road. David Gaston summarized community concern about emergency response delays and vehicle damage. Supervisor Richard Craig and Highway Superintendent Andy Best said weather and current road conditions limit heavy equipment access and that roads need to freeze or dry before full repairs.
Andy Best explained that many roads have insufficient base and lack drainage; he said the plan is to grade and add gravel piecemeal to make conditions safer in the near term. Councilmembers and residents noted the Town has retained Disaster Recovery Partners and civil engineer Bill Grove from Grove Engineering to support FEMA-funded work and subsurface borings. Resident Meg McLean recommended hiring a civil engineer or grant writer; Malcolm Mac Kenzie said the town has already retained the stated consultants to pursue FEMA funds.
