Town to begin process to adopt revised flood plain maps; special meeting set Jan. 28

The Italy Town Board discussed newly revised flood plain maps that require a multi-step adoption process: adopt a new local law, repeal the prior law, complete a Type 1 SEQR review and refer the matter to the Yates County Planning Board. Town Attorney Ed Brockman said he is initiating the process and the board scheduled a special meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025 at 7 PM to begin the steps.
No substantive decisions on map content were made at the Jan. 14 meeting; the board recorded that attorney and planning review are next steps and that the special meeting will focus on procedural requirements to implement the maps.
