Yates County Legislator Sarah Purdy briefed the Italy Town Board on countywide items: the Legislature is establishing a County Board of Health separate from the legislature; the county ambulance service completed 733 calls in 2024; the Legislature added four parcels to the county agriculture district; and the county hired a grant-writing firm (MRB) that may be offered as a shared service to municipalities.
Purdy also noted the Board of Elections is preparing for candidates seeking office in 2025 (petition circulation begins Feb. 25) and mentioned the county observed 16 snow-and-ice days in December. Board members raised local broadband access concerns (Empire Access/Hi Tor underserved designation) for areas including Brink Hill Rd. and Bassett Rd.; Purdy agreed to discuss the issue with the county planner.
