The Custer County Board approved Resolution #22-2026 to close a three-mile section of county blacktop known as the Callaway–Cozad road to allow the Sandhills Open Road Challenge/One Mile Shootout to proceed.
The motion, made by Longmore and seconded by Markham, described the closure as occurring "approximately 16 miles South of the junction of said County blacktop road and State Highway #40," and recorded the purpose as conducting the Sandhills Open Road Challenge. The roll call vote was Ayes — all.
The resolution delegates temporary road-control authority for the event; any traffic detours or public notices will be handled by county road staff and event organizers in coordination with county authorities prior to the event.
