Litchfield board certifies $6.63 million levy after Truth in Taxation hearing

At a Dec. 8 regular meeting, Business Manager Jesse Johnson presented Litchfield Public Schools’ current-year budget and the proposed taxes payable in 2026 as part of a Truth in Taxation public hearing. The hearing invited taxpayer comments; none were made after the budget presentation.
The board then moved to certify the levy. "Carlson moved and Oster seconded to certify the levy at $6,629,247.16 as presented by Business Manager Johnson," the minutes record. The motion carried 4-0. The certification formally sets the district’s taxes payable in 2026 at $6,629,247.16.
The board also agreed to hold a second regular meeting on Dec. 22, 2025 to allow additional discussion on district business. Chair Alex Carlson initiated the scheduling motion, which passed unanimously. The Truth in Taxation hearing and levy certification concluded without public comment.
