Gilpin Township authorized work on Gilpin Leachburg Park and approved a temporary closure to accommodate a scouts event. The board voted to award the park’s Phase 1 milling and paving contract to Dunright Dunright Construction for the Leachburg Park project and instructed staff to notify the contractor so work can proceed.
Earlier in the meeting Paul Pastiva of the park asked the board to approve closing the park and James Leach Road from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 13–16 for the scouts, saying the event usually draws “40 to 50 kids” and uses all the pavilions. The board approved the closure and authorized SARPD to effectuate and enforce it; the township will post the closure notice on its website. Members discussed funding and noted that Phase 2 carryover funds and donations will cover bid overages.
