Residents urge limits on whole‑house short‑term rentals; council asks staff to study options

She asked the council for a limit on whole‑house short‑term rentals to preserve family housing.
Councilmember Yamaguchi acknowledged the complaint and said she has been in contact with Airbnb’s government affairs team about options for cities. She told Schnebly the council would ask staff to study short‑term rental regulations used by neighboring cities and bring options back for a future study session.
Mayor Kerwin asked Schnebly to share the data she referenced so staff could compare it with the city’s records.
The council did not take immediate regulatory action; instead it directed staff to research policies and return with options for council consideration.
