Placentia welcomes two new staffers and proclaims May 20 Red Sneakers Day

At the start of the May 6 meeting, Interim City Administrator Tom Hatch introduced two recent city hires and asked the council to welcome them. "Please join me in welcoming Administrative Assistant Savannah Martinez to our Placentia team," he said, noting her education and prior service in Newport Beach. Hatch also introduced Public Works Associate Engineer Shelley Kennel and the council welcomed both new staffers.
Earlier in the meeting, the council held a short proclamation recognizing May 20 as Red Sneakers Day to raise public awareness about food allergies and emergency response; a 10-year-old ambassador for the Red Sneakers for Oakley nonprofit addressed the council and thanked members for helping spread awareness. The mayor and council highlighted the city’s Citizens Academy graduates and encouraged residents to participate in the civic program.
