The City Council voted to approve the annexation of 201 South Bradford Avenue (El Farolito restaurant) into Community Facilities District No. 2024-01 for Old Town Placentia. Staff told the council the CFD is dedicated to maintaining and repairing public infrastructure within Old Town, including graffiti abatement, landscaping, street lighting, traffic signals, storm drains, refuse collection and street sweeping.
Properties undergoing new construction or rehabilitation with valuation exceeding $25,000 are eligible for annexation; the El Farolito owner signed a petition to be annexed under the "rehab/remodel" category. Staff said the special tax will be collected by the Orange County tax collector as part of the annual property-tax bill and that the special levy process will be scheduled for the June 17 council meeting. The council closed the public hearing and approved the resolution (R24) by roll call, 4 yes and 1 not voting.
